    Plaquenil lyme disease treatment

He reported a history of tick bite and rash in 2002. The knee pain and other symptoms rapidly improved over the next two weeks. He received a short course of antibiotics at that time. After two weeks he reported that the antibiotics were causing nightmares and insomnia. Then one week later he complained of confusion and unsteadiness.

The three first-line oral antibiotics for Lyme disease include doxycycline Monodox, Doryx, Vibramycin, Oracea, amoxicillin Amoxil, and cefuroxime Ceftin, Zinacef. Ceftriaxone “Rocephin” administered intravenously is the preferred antibiotic for neurologic Lyme disease in the United States. There is no doubt in my mind that some patients exhibit persistent symptoms, whether you call it “chronic Lyme” or post-treatment Lyme disease PTLD, but prolonged antibiotic therapy does not. My daughter’s LLMD wants to add a Plaquenil pulse to my daughter’s protocol and thinks it might boost her babesia treatment. I’ve read mixed reviews on this drug and it seems that most lyme drs use it to increase the efficacy of certain Lyme treatments but not as much for babesia.

He continued to improve rapidly once more with a cessation of neurocognitive symptoms. When I saw him initially he complained of knee pain and swelling, fatigue, generalized arthralgia (joint pain), numbness and tingling and an irregular heart beat. I diagnosed a "brain Herx." I added Plaquenil back, as well as Welchol, presumptively to remove "neurotoxins." I also reduced the dose of Amoxicillin and Minocin.

Does anyone know how likely it is for hydroxychloroquine to cause hair loss? Weight loss is also listed as a side effect, I am up 15 Linda 8 mo into this drug👀😤😃😁Everyone is different. I’m not ill enough to of interest to him generally! I couldn't 100 % say it is due to the mets though but my hair has gone thinner since I started taking the meds. However, Hydroxychloroquine slows down and mitigates lupus symptomatology so it will slow up hair loss. The only real side effect is on vision in those susceptible to that; annual testing for a couple of years is advisable and if that is OK you can forget visual deterioration more or less. Being on iron and B vitamins no matter what the blood tests say about levels has pretty much settled my hair down. R/lupus - Plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine and hair whitening.
